G. DONALD GOLDEN: It's important for you to periodically check your credit report to make sure that you have not been the victim of identity theft or that you do not have inaccuracies on your credit report due to having a common name.
If you notice an inaccuracy in your credit report, you should write a dispute letter and send it certified mail, return receipt requested to all three major credit reporting agencies.

G. DONALD GOLDEN: If the credit reporting agency fails to update your credit report following your dispute, it is time to give my office a call. It's important for consumers to have accurate credit reports.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act is a statute that requires creditors to report accurate information to the credit reporting agencies. Oftentimes, credit reporting agencies and creditors fail in their responsibilities under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and a consumer has to bring a lawsuit against them to make sure that their credit report is accurate.
The most important result for you is to have an accurate credit report, but we can also recover any actual damages you may have incurred. If you're having problems with your credit report, I encourage you to call us for a free consultation.
